Avamere at Sandy lives by their mission “to enhance the life of every person we serve” in their assisted living and memory care community. Katie Williams, Receptionist, embodied this mission perfectly in her genuine care for one resident.
The family expressed their sincere appreciation in a letter to Avamere at Sandy:
I feel like I need to send a special shout out to Katie Williams for going a step beyond what anyone would normally expect in order to really make a difference in these special and extremely difficult times.
My mother, Vivian Rall, has been a resident at Avamere at Sandy since Valentine’s Day weekend; so essentially, she moved in just minutes before the COVID-19 crisis and lock-in requirements. Vivian has always been extremely social and very family oriented. What an exceptionally challenging time for someone, who turned 91 in April, to have two of her three grandchildren graduate (one from high school and the other from college). Since both of their ceremonies were virtual, I struggled to explain this to her in a manner that she could comprehend… let alone try to navigate the technology to view!
I brought Vivian’s tablet to the door of Avamere a few days before the online commencement exercises, not even knowing who to ask for help as the usual contact was not available. Katie has already made a special place in my mom’s heart with just her daily usual wonderful personality. When she opened the door that day and offered to help Vivian to get to see her two grandchildren graduate I swear I heard an angelic choir break out in song! Not only did she get right on it, she kept me in the loop and (my favorite) closed the loop after the weekend to assure me that Vivian did indeed have the help she needed to see these virtual graduations (on two different platforms). Here is the GIANT kudos: Katie called a co-worker on her day off, in the midst of her leisurely activities, in order to make sure Vivian wouldn’t miss out on the two celebrations.
WOW! I hope everyone at Avamere at Sandy knows how incredibly blessed they are to have her as part of their team! My family certainly does!!
Sincerely,
Regena Knapp and family
